Amery Hill Exam Results 2016
We are delighted with the results achieved by our students this year – a true reflection of the hard work and effort put in by both the students and the staff that have worked alongside them. We are particularly pleased with the rise in the number of students who obtained 5 A*-C grades, including English and Mathematics, which has risen to 75%. Both our English and Mathematics departments exceeded last year’s results with 83% of students passing their English and 80% awarded a pass grade in Mathematics. These core qualifications also show high levels of progress; 86% of students made 3 levels of progress in English and 77% in Mathematics.
In line with the new government expectations and measures, we have also seen a very healthy rise in the number of students achieving the EBacc qualification, with 40% of students gaining an A*-C pass in English, Mathematics, Science, a Humanities subject and a Foreign Language.
In particular our A*-A grade pass rates have been outstanding in Biology (41%), Chemistry (49%), Geography (37%), Music (50%), Physics (41%) and Religious Studies (30%). Students studying individual science subjects achieved a 100% pass rate, while Music students achieved 96%, Spanish and Art 88%, Religious Studies 85%, Geography 79% and History 76%.
Talking about this year’s exam success Mrs Elizabeth Wylie, Headteacher, commented “I would like to congratulate all of our students on their success. There are so many individuals who have surpassed their targets and there have been some outstanding personal achievements. I wish them all good luck in their future endeavours.”
Particularly outstanding results were achieved by Alex Judkins and Anna Vines who secured 12 GCSEs passes all at A* grade. Also, Seren Irwin achieved 10 A*, 1 A and 1 B grade and Dan Stoller 9 A* and 3 A grades. The number of students achieving 7 or more A*/A grades was 27; congratulations to all of our top performing students.
