Miles of smilesPosted on: May 20th 2019
The Amery Hill and Anstey Junior School Trainers for Treloar’s Fun Run took place this week with over fifty pupils putting on their trainers and running a mile to show their support for Treloar College and School. Inspired by a member of staff, Mrs Natalie Percy, who ran the 2019 London Marathon for Treloar’s, the Fun Run was the culmination of fundraising events held by both Amery Hill and Anstey Junior School.
Mrs Percy, Mr Stephen Mann, Headteacher, Amery Hill and Mrs Jenny Jones, Headteacher, Anstey Junior joined forces with the spritely and energetic youngsters and other staff members, running the mile course at Anstey playing fields, crossing the finish line on the campus at Treloar’s. Amery Hill School’s Sports Ambassadors helped with the organisation of the event, expertly marshalling the course and encouraging all the runners.
Talking about the event Mr Stephen Mann commented, “I am incredibly proud of the achievement of all the runners and both school communities. Together we have raised £665.76, while having a huge amount of fun and getting active.”
Mrs Jones added, "The children from Anstey Junior School really enjoyed being part of this event. It was a great opportunity for the children to find out more about the opportunities that Treloar’s offers to its students."
Pupils were welcomed to Treloar’s by Principal Mr Martin Ingram and Mr Jon Colville, Director of Fundraising. Amery Hill’s next joint fundraiser with Treloar’s is a Quiz Night on 12th July – visit www.treloar.org.uk/events for more information.
