Hairspray Star Inspires Amery Hill's Performing Arts Students

This week, Amery Hill buzzed with excitement as we welcomed Ben Anderson, an actor from the UK tour of Hairspray. Ben led three incredible workshops for our current and future Dance and Drama stars.

Ben guided students through choreographing and performing steps and scenes, sharing vital insights into musical theatre. The sessions included workshopping performances under audition conditions, allowing students to refine their skills in a professional setting.

We are really grateful to him for taking a break from his schedule to come and share his incredible energy and musical theatre know-how with us. The Dance Studio was full of students after school reprising the steps they had learnt with Ben, so it's safe to say his visit truly inspired those he worked with!

Their constant mutual support and genuine care for one another have reinforced the vibrant, supportive community we cherish here in the heart of Alton, at Amery Hill School. In line with our motto, ‘Education for Life,’ our goal is to guide every student toward becoming an adaptable, self-assured, and capable young adult prepared for whatever the future holds. The Class of 2026 has truly exemplified this mission: they have excelled. Working hand-in-hand with our excellent staff and supported every step of the way by their families, they have shown precisely what happens when high ambitions are paired with hard work and integrity. We could not be prouder of their accomplishments. This success stands as a testament to our core values: Independence, Creativity, Active Learning, Resilience, and Empathy. Celebrating Our House Championship Winners

The House competition has drawn to a close for another year, and what a fantastic year it has been. Students and staff alike have shown incredible dedication, effort, and enthusiasm across every single event and challenge. With the final points now calculated from a spectacular year of sports, creative arts, academic challenges, and community events, we are thrilled to announce Pemberley House as the overall winners of this year’s House Championship. This is a fantastic achievement, reflecting the hard work, participation, and team spirit of every single Pemberley member.
