...students show they have them all in abundance!

New head army

In November Year 9 and 10 students took part in an Army Experience Day, testing their physical and mental capabilities. Students showed fantastic team spirit to overcome physical and team challenges and even won an Army and Teachers vs all students tug of war competition. Students participating on day two were challenged even more by the muddy and slippery conditions which added to the fun! Students had a great time and some were even asking if a military style fitness club, could be introduced at Amery. Fantastic effort and attitude by all!

Amery Hill Prom - sunshine, sparkles and sophistication

Amery Hill’s Year 11 students celebrated the end of their secondary school education with a sophisticated dinner and dance at Froyle Park, Upper Froyle. Everything was perfectly in place from the suits and the bow ties, the beautifully elegant dresses to the handbags, the heels and the make-up! Talking about the event, Progress Leader, Mr Owain Lewis, commented “The arrangements for the evening were led by the Student Prom Committee, who organised the event like a team of professionals! Having worked so hard over the past few months for their GCSE exams, it was lovely that the students could celebrate together. They had a fantastic evening and it is definitely one they will remember.” The evening opened with an impressive array of transport for the traditional arrival at Amery Hill School, including a fantastic display of vintage vehicles, a variety of sports cars and even a tractor, a doughnut-performing Rotax kart and an articulated lorry cab, more commonly used to haul a 44 tonne trailer! The fly past by a yellow tiger moth biplane seemed coincidental, or was it?   It was wonderful that so many members of the community came out to wish them well and make them feel special for the evening. Tutors and students enjoyed a reception in the wonderful surroundings of Froyle Park before sitting down to dinner which was followed by the presentation of awards and speeches. The evening was rounded off at Froyle Park with plenty of photo opportunities and dancing.   To view the photos from the evening click here If students would like electronic copies of their own photos please contact Mrs Rose in the ICT Department.View Article
