£1.1 million for redevelopmentPosted on: September 11th 2018
Amery Hill School is delighted to announce the securing of just over £1.1 million to redevelop our existing Kitchen and Dining facilities.
The project will see the replacement of our outdated canteen with facilities that are capable of providing our ever-increasing number of students with healthy and nutritious meals. A significant proportion of the funding has come from the government administered Healthy Pupils Capital Fund, as they recognised how our application for funding was based on the school’s philosophy of developing the whole child. The new dining facilities will help to boost both the physical and mental wellbeing of our students, by allowing them to use meal times as an opportunity to share, be social and digest food calmly.
Planning permission has already been secured, with work on the project due to start in early December. We are hopeful that the new kitchen and dining room will be in service by September 2019.
The redevelopment also marks the first phase in an ambitious building programme for Amery Hill, which will over the next few years see the creation of a multi-functional performance space, including a new auditorium as well as Drama and Dance studios.
Steve Mann, Headteacher, has said:
“This is a very exciting time in Amery Hill School’s evolution. This first phase in our redevelopment will provide a wonderful space for all our students to not only eat and socialise in a modern and comfortable environment, but to also support our core values of Opportunity, Care and Progress.”
